Vadim Software
Founded in 1975, Vadim provides proprietary software to small to mid size municipalities and local governments. It's iCity software is comprised of over 20 specialized municipal applications, with core financials as the base. Vadim integrates with third-party applications, so clients can add additional best-of-breed, specialized software as required. iCity Software is also supported by utilities that allow advanced business reporting, integration with common office applications and service delivery over the internet. Vadim was StarDyne’s first acquisition, which took place in 2001. With StarDynes' involvement, Vadim completed a comprehensive upgrade to its software, acquired two additional companies, secured partnerships with complementary software vendors, has doubled in size by employees and has grown from 70 to over 200 customers. Clients are located across Canada and in several American states.
Top Down Logic Corporation (TDL)
Top Down Logic (TDL) provided a DOS/character based, proprietary software that was ideal for small communities in Ontario. With excellent customer service, TDL had strong relationships with its clients. However, the aging software needed to be either replaced or upgraded to keep up with industry standards. StarDyne purchased TDL in January 2003 and rolled the company into Vadim. Vadim’s iCity Software could be scaled to deliver the service required by these communities at an affordable price. Acquiring TDL increased Vadim’s market presence in Ontario, added skills with core competencies in the municipal marketplace and created an affordable migration path for these small communities. Over 25 TDL customers have now converted to iCity and find the features and benefits far exceed the inevitable learning curve associated with implementing new software.
Versyss Municipal
The Versyss Municipal Division provided proprietary Unix/character based software to municipalities, principally for the Michigan market. Like TDL, the software needed to be replaced or upgraded to keep current with industry standards. However, the core business of its parent company, Versyss Commercial Systems, is to provide financial business systems for Materials and Construction Management. Instead of investing the required capital to upgrade the software, Versyss preferred to divest its municipal division to Vadim through StarDyne. With Vadim and StarDyne’s support, Versyss was assured that its commitment to customers would continue and each has a viable migration path when they choose to upgrade. For Vadim, this increases its market presence in Michigan and is an opportunity to adapt its software to meet the needs of this unique market.
