FortisBC believes strongly in being active partners with the communities we serve. FortisBC provides support to a variety of community programs and projects in the form of funding, employee volunteerism and event sponsorship.

Every application for assistance is evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. The program must be based or active in the communities in which FortisBC operates
  2. The program must be a recognized community need, within the following categories:

    • Safety - projects that promote electrical safety, personal safety and accident avoidance
    • Education - projects that promote electrical trades, literacy, leadership and safety
    • Environment - projects that directly benefit the environment

  3. The applicant must not be any of the following:

    • Organizations or initiatives normally funded by the tax base (through any level of government)
    • Churches or other denominational organizations
    • Fraternal or labour organization
