FortisBC believes strongly in being active partners with the communities we serve. FortisBC provides support to a variety of community programs and projects in the form of funding, employee volunteerism and event sponsorship.
Every application for assistance is evaluated based on the following criteria:
- The program must be based or active in the communities in which FortisBC operates
- The program must be a recognized community need, within the following categories:
- Safety - projects that promote electrical safety, personal safety and accident avoidance
- Education - projects that promote electrical trades, literacy, leadership and safety
- Environment - projects that directly benefit the environment
- The applicant must not be any of the following:
- Organizations or initiatives normally funded by the tax base (through any level of government)
- Churches or other denominational organizations
- Fraternal or labour organization
